Abstract

Iran and Iraq are important and influential countries in the political trends and arena of Southwest Asia, and the relations between these two countries have had their own ups and downs in each period of time and With the fall of Saddam Hussein and the Baath party and the change of political governance in Iraq, we have witnessed the improvement of relations between the two countries and Considering the importance and quality of the relations between the two countries, identifying and determining the effective threats to the bilateral relations in the future is doubly important. In this regard, in this article, in order to answer the question, which are the most important and influential factors among the political threats affecting Iran-Iraq relations? By studying related documents and previous scientific records, conducting interviews and using experts' opinions, 20 threatening political indicators were identified. And then based on the opinion of the experts, he ranked and determined the value of the factors, and finally, using the IPA importance-performance analysis method, the importance value and performance value of each factor was determined separately based on the five-point Likert scale, and according to the results, obtained and by weighting the factors, five priority factors with high importance and performance and four factors with high importance and low performance were identified as important political factors that pose a threat to Iran-Iraq relations.
